Happy 1st Day of Spring! We have had a wonderful week so far.  Monday our Mystery Reader was Louis Randazzo and Tuesday Cameron's Aunt. We are so thankful that all of you have committed to come in and read with us. We have had 12 Mystery Readers so far this month and we are so proud.

In math students have been learning about capacity, area, and perimeter. They made a Gallon Man/Woman and have practiced finding the area and perimeter of given objects. Workshop is going great, students love working together and are getting better listening to one another and working with their classmates.

In reading students have been identifying the Main Idea and details when they read, they have also been focusing on the following reading strategies: going back to reread, looking at pictures to help with comprehension, changing their voice while reading, predicting what will come next, and sounding out unknown words.

In writing students have finished their Autobiography Projects and they are so excited to share them with you at Conferences. Our next unit will be Animal Reports

Happy Tuesday. Thank you to our wonderful friend Ronoll in 3rd grade for being our Mystery Reader.
Today we continued to practice the skill of measuring in inches, centimeters, and adding two digit numbers. You can help your child memorize their math facts by practicing addition facts with flash cards each night. At conferences I will provide you with some if you are in need. You can also get them at the dollar store.

In reading, we continued to discuss and identify the main idea of a story. To find what the main idea of a story is students have to act like detectives and look for all the details throughout the story.

Book exchange is tomorrow.
