Tuesday March 12, 2013

Happy Tuesday. Thank you to our wonderful friend Ronoll in 3rd grade for being our Mystery Reader.
Today we continued to practice the skill of measuring in inches, centimeters, and adding two digit numbers. You can help your child memorize their math facts by practicing addition facts with flash cards each night. At conferences I will provide you with some if you are in need. You can also get them at the dollar store.

In reading, we continued to discuss and identify the main idea of a story. To find what the main idea of a story is students have to act like detectives and look for all the details throughout the story.

Book exchange is tomorrow.

In reading our Mystery Reader was my daughter Aubrey, my husband and twins, Evan and Lucas. We are in need of a Mystery Reader on March 8th,12th, 22nd, and 28th. Thank you to all that have signed up. The students love it!

Please look around your house for pictures of your child for us to use with our Autobiography. They can start bringing them in this week.

Monday March 4, 2013

We had a great week last week. Friday we had our first mystery reader, my mom, Mrs. Imhoff. We also had two students from Parcells come in as part of the Read Across America program. They taught us a lesson using the book Green Eggs and Ham.  We also celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday by reading in our pajamas and having cupcakes.

Today students worked together to solve math problems, measured vegetables, and completed their math center. Our "One School, One Book" program began on Friday. Students received The Lemonade War today with a reading schedule. Enjoy

We could use a Mystery Reader at 12:30 on the following days: March 8, 12, 19, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28. If you would like to be a mystery reader please contact me and let me know. amy.zizelman@gpschools.org
